CITIZEN SUPPORT

Strong City depends on its network of supporters to jumpstart community outreach initiatives. Our community of Strong Citizens started in New Orleans and is expanding to cities like New York. We’ve hosted a variety of fundraising programs with the help of our Strong Citizen network.

OUR GOAL

Our Strong Citizen community currently resides in New Orleans and New York. We hope to expand this network to more cities across the United States so that we can effectively increase the reach of our youth outreach and gun violence prevention initiatives.

OUR MODEL

We know that support from the community is essential. We have a growing base of Strong Citizens who take the lead on a handful of community-based initiatives. Strong Citizens have the opportunity to hone their problem-solving and community engagement skills while forging lasting relationships.

Past Initiatives

YEP+Fest.jpg

YEP FEST

YEP Fest is an annual street festival and fundraiser hosted by our partner, the Youth Empowerment Project. Featuring live music, pedicab races, restaurants, and a Kid’s Zone, YEP Fest gives us the opportunity to connect and interact directly with the community.

Triathlon

Strong City’s 2019 New York triathlon had an incredible turnout. With the help of nine Strong Citizens, we raised $20,435. Using these funds, our partner YEP was able to make vital purchases for their summer campers, including swimsuits, goggles, and toiletry kits. Also, YEP was able to upgrade its headquarters through the purchase of: new kitchenware, a water fountain, kitchen cabinets, lockers, and a passenger van.

strong city tulane

Strong City receives extensive support from the Tulane University student body. Founded in 2019, the Strong City Tulane club offers students the opportunity to participate in on-campus fundraising events and engage with the surrounding New Orleans community.

Thanksgiving Drive

Strong Citizens come together every year to help YEP connect low-income families with food for Thanksgiving. The 2019 Thanksgiving Drive provided 75 families with holiday meals. Strong City Tulane helped raise funds, organize transportation, and sort food items.

Strong city x conbody

In 2018, we partnered with CONBODY, a bodyweight fitness program that hires formerly incarcerated individuals, to lead workout classes in NYC. The company’s founder, former inmate Cosse Marte, gave an inspiring talk to our Strong Citizens about his fitness journey and CONBODY’s mission: to bridge the gap between young professionals and former convicts. After the talk, he led a prison-style workout!
